Announcing CTLA's Virtual Food Drive for Connecticut Foodshare

November 5, 2025

As trial lawyers, we are united by a commitment to advocacy and service. Today, our neighbors need both. In Connecticut, roughly 360,000 residents rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, which typically delivers about $75 million in food benefits each month to households across the state. During the federal government shutdown, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced on November 3, 2025 that it would use contingency funds to provide about half of November SNAP benefits, and states expect deposits to arrive later than usual. This reduced funding and the uncertainty around timing are adding pressure to local food assistance efforts, which is why CTLA is launching a Virtual Food Drive in support of Connecticut Foodshare.

CTLA's Goal

Beginning today, CTLA is launching a Virtual Food Drive to support Connecticut Foodshare through the holiday season and beyond. Our initial goal is to raise $15,000 by December 15, 2025. Every contribution – large or small – moves us closer to ensuring no Connecticut family has to choose between food and other essentials this winter. (Donations to Connecticut Foodshare, a 501(c)(3) organization, are tax-deductible as allowed by law.)

Why Connecticut Foodshare?

Connecticut Foodshare is the statewide food bank, partnering with 650+ pantries and meal programs and operating mobile distributions in communities across Connecticut. Last year alone, it helped provide 44 million meals. Because of its scale and partnerships, a virtual food drive is the most cost-effective way to help—your dollars stretch further by allowing Foodshare to source the most-needed foods quickly and efficiently.
