David W. Cooney was admitted to the Connecticut State and Federal District Court bars in 1978. He is also a member of the Bar of the United States Court of Federal Claims. Mr. Cooney was educated at Rutgers University (B.A., cum laude, 1975) and Wesleyan University (M.A., 1998). He received his law degree from the University of Connecticut in 1978. He is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa fraternity. Mr. Cooney serves on the Executive Committee, the Board of Governors and is Co-Chair of the Continuing Legal Education Committee of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association. He was the CTLA President in 2010-2011.. He is also a member of the Board of Governors of The American Association for Justice. Mr. Cooney is certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and is an Advocate member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He is listed in the The Best Lawyers in America He has chaired and lectured at Connecticut Bar Association and Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association presentations on a variety of topics, including Product Liability Law, Uninsured Motorist Law, Civil Discovery, Insurance Law and Litigation and Tort Legislation. For ten years, Mr. Cooney was on the adjunct faculty at the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he taught a course on Trial Advocacy.
