Agenda

CTLA continues to give back!  Our members are once again volunteering their time in the kitchen to help continue our tradition of community outreach with our second annual fundraiser: Look Who's Cookin' Too!  Last year, CTLA donated over $41,000 to Habitat for Humanity.  We hope to raise even more this year.

THANKS TO OUR LEAD SPONSOR:
Silver Golub & Teitell, LLP

CANNOT ATTEND AND WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A CONTRIBUTION?
Please make check payable to "Habitat for Humanity" and mail to the CTLA office.

HABITAT IN CONNECTICUT
Habitat for Humanity local affiliates are nonprofit organizations dedicated to the elimination of poverty housing through the creation of homeownership opportunities for low-income working families.  The local Habitat affiliates build and rehabilitate homes in their geographic area with the goal of creating safe, decent, affordable houses that add to the revitalization of neighborhoods.  Families that apply for homes complete a qualification process in which they demonstrate family and fiscal responsibility, and also contribute their own volunteer hours, “sweat equity.”  There are seven affiliates located across the state: Bridgeport, Danbury, Hartford, Middlesex County, New Haven, New London, and Waterbury.  While many people assume that Habitat for Humanity (the national organization) provides funding for the local affiliates, this is not the case.  Not only are the local affiliates responsible for raising funds for their own operating expenses, but they are also responsible for contributing a portion of what they raise to the national organization.

GET INVOLVED
Let’s show them that we’re serious about giving back.  If you have a dish you'd like to prepare, or you'd like to participate in the event, we encourage you to contact Rosemarie Paine (203) 466-8413 or email her rpaine@jacobslaw.com or contact the CTLA office at (860) 522-4345.  If you attended last year, you'll remember just how much fun the event was! Mark your calendars now, we look forward to seeing you on May 17th.

Our members are also volunteering their time to build houses.  Sharon Jenkins has graciously stepped up to be our Volunteer Coordinator.  Sharon will be responsible for organizing CTLA members in their area and will work with the local affiliate and the CTLA volunteers on the logistics of the volunteer assignment.  If you'd like to lend a hand or organize a group to volunteer for Habitat, please contact Sharon directly at (203) 334-4800 or email her at sajenkins@barristerlawgroup.com.
